Ebola Outbreak Alert ने global health agencies की चिंता बढ़ा दी है। WHO ने Democratic Republic of Congo और Uganda से जुड़े Ebola outbreak को public health emergency of international concern घोषित किया है।
Reuters और WHO updates के मुताबिक, DR Congo के Ituri province में suspected cases और deaths की संख्या बढ़ी है, जबकि Uganda में भी confirmed cases सामने आए हैं। Health officials regional spread को लेकर सतर्क हैं।
मामला क्या है?
WHO के अनुसार, Ituri province में Ebola disease caused by Bundibugyo virus के cases सामने आए हैं। WHO ने कहा कि confirmed cases के साथ कई suspected cases और community deaths की reports मिली हैं।

Reuters की report के मुताबिक, health authorities outbreak को contain करने के लिए vaccines और treatments options पर तेजी से काम कर रही हैं। Bundibugyo virus strain के लिए approved vaccine या specific treatment options limited हैं, इसलिए response और surveillance ज्यादा अहम हो जाते हैं।
Risk क्यों बढ़ा?
WHO ने risk को इसलिए गंभीर माना क्योंकि suspected cases कई health zones में report हुए हैं और Uganda की राजधानी Kampala में भी imported cases मिले हैं। High mobility, informal healthcare facilities और conflict-affected areas outbreak control को मुश्किल बना सकते हैं।
Reuters की earlier report में WHO Africa head ने warning दी थी कि Ebola spread के risk को underestimate करना गलती होगी। ऐसे outbreaks में एक भी missed case नए cluster को जन्म दे सकता है।
